This damn dog makes me so freaking happy.

My oldest decided last year that she wanted to adopt a shelter dog. She created a presentation and really gave us her best pitch on why we should adopt an unwanted to dog. It was a compelling pitch and I could see no reason to say no.
July 2023 – we met Beau at the APA of Missouri and instantly fell in love. He was sweet, and quiet, and humble. All the other dogs were barking their heads off, but not Beau. We did a meet and greet with both daughters and he was great! Not afraid, but not aggressive either. And he was comfortable around other dogs (which helped because we have two tiny yappers at home). Bissell Pet Foundation was subsidizing big dog adoptions that week too – so for $25, Beau came home with us.
It took him a few weeks to get comfortable, and a few months to finally feel safe. But this damn dog spends every day with me in my home office and knows how to make me smile, even when I’m having a rough day. Over the past year, we’ve seen him figure out the world (he was only 6 months old when we adopted). He’s discovered that raisins are bad, milkbones are good, and frogs should always be avoided!
I love this little guy – Happy Gotcha Day, Beau!!
